23 November 2015. Intellectual property rights’ protection for small and medium-sized enterprises
There is a perception that protection of intellectual property rights should be provided only for well-known large corporations. However, small and medium-sized enterprises may also be affected by potential violations and IP rights infringements. Moreover, an adequate IP protection is of vital importance in the life of a company.
The Federation of Small Businesses has released a study showing that small and medium-sized enterprises have difficulties with IP rights protection. 25% of respondents indicate that their business has been affected by the violation of their various IP rights by third parties over the past five years. Therefore, for instance, a simple registration of company’s trademark will help to avoid potential violations and infringements, and as a consequence, financial losses for businesses.
