17 November 2015. The government proposes a national minimum bedroom size that can be let

The UK government made a proposal to establish a national minimum bedroom size that can be let on the market. According to that proposal, landlords shall not let the room in the house of multiple occupations, if it is smaller than 6.7 m2. The landlords who still proceed with the letting would be guilty of a criminal offence. Particularly in London, the landlords tend to divide houses into several living spaces in order to yield up their income from the property. As a consequence, there are lots of complaints from tenants who pay considerably high rent (up to £1000) for tiny rooms that are not suitable for comfort living.
