04.01.2019 Immigration Changes in January 2019: Tier 4 Visa Route
Quite a few changes to the Immigration Rules are about to come into force in January 2019.
From 10 January 2019, students who are currently studying a part-time postgraduate course in the UK under the Tier 4 category will be allowed to apply for extension of their Tier 4 leave, to continue studying on a part-time or full-time basis, within the UK.
Some further amendments, extending the ‘privileges’ currently available only to Tier 4 students sponsored by publicly-funded higher education institutions, will come into force on 1 August 2019. The ‘privileges’ will include:
- Permission to work during study;
- An ability, for those studying a post-graduate course, to bring dependants;
- Having you English level assessed without a secure English language test;
- Less restrictive study limits.
Details of a start-up visa route, a new Innovator route and restrictions imposed on the Tier 1 (Investor) route are expected to be announced later this year in a statement of intent, followed by changes to the Immigration Rules around April.
