Chinese inquiries into Manchester property increased by 50%. According to website Juwai.com, in November 2016 the number of Chinese inquiries into Manchester housing market was 53.8% higher than the same month previous year. The flights between China and Manchester have increased numbers of passengers, many of whom are investors. Moreover, the devaluation of the pound means that many investors see the UK as an excellent option. One of the reason for this growth is Manchester’s future growth, as it plans to build 227,000 homes over the next 20 years. Another reason is President Xi Jinping’s visit to Manchester in October 2015. There was also a huge spike in Chinese investors’ interest in UK’s property in the month after the vote to leave the EU, with the number of inquiries 40% higher than usual.
