Thomas is Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. Thomas is fluent in Czech, Slovak and Hungarian as well as having a working knowledge of Polish and Russian. Thomas specialises in Central and Eastern European work.

Thomas has lectured at Miskolc University and other Hungarian and Czech institutions. He specialises in corporate finance, banking and restructuring. He has previously set up and worked with the Central and Eastern European department at Price Waterhouse.

He is a former chairman of the British Hungarian Law Association.
